The Lobster Rolls are coming Friday, August 23rd starting at 5p.m. Lobster rolls ($13 each with chips & brownie), chowder, clam cakes and drinks while supplies last.

In concert, this Sunday at 4 P.M. at Central Baptist: One Voice Women’s A Cappella Chorus and Home Brew One Voice, a Jamestown women’s a cappella vocal ensemble directed by Julie Beth Andrews, will present its annual spring concert, with selections of global music in folk, classical, and contemporary styles. The music lyrics raise awareness for peace, equality, and social justice within the global community and include arrangements of African-American spirituals, as well as songs from Estonia, Kenya, and the United States. Of special note are songs by Sweet Honey in the Rock and Wailin’ Jennys. In addition to One Voice, Home Brew musicians Cheryl Grelle, Matt Bolles, and Judy Bolles will perform bluegrass selections. Proceeds from the concert - a suggested donation of $15.00 - will be donated to the Polaris Project, an organization working to prevent and disrupt human trafficking. Polarisproject.org

During the Central Baptist June festival this past Saturday, Conanicut Marine Services let the parish borrow a tent. The weather, however, was nice, so the tent was not erected. Unfortunately, the tent has gone missing. Because there was a “Free Furniture” sign during the week following the festival, it might have been a mistake. If you took the tent, please give Pastor Kurt a call at 423-1651. Or you can return it to the marina. Thanks.
Thank you to those who made the June Festival happen: to Tim Riel and the Jamestown Press for a wonderful article, to those who donated, those who shopped, those who lead and organize, those who volunteered, those who baked shortcake and goodies for the Ruth Caswell Memorial Bake Sale, those who hauled furniture, those who potted plant starts, those who prepared strawberries, those who sorted and priced and sold things, those who baked beans, those who prepared hot dogs, hamburgers, clam chowder, clam cakes and Chourice and pepper sandwiches, those who whipped cream, those who distributed signs and flyers, those who bought raffle tickets, those who stayed to clean everything up, and those who supported in ways we may never know. Thank you.
